 Gutter and Area Drainage
Some homes need gutter and area drainage and some do not. (Your landscape certainly has to accommodate such drain remedies.) If anything, walk the perimeter of your home, look for areas where water may be flowing down. Don't let the downspouts dump right at the foundation. This excess runoff can lead to backfill degradation and water in the crawlspace or basement. It's not a bad idea to walk the foundation perimeter during a heavy rain to inspect for possible water infiltration. If your driveway is sloped towards the house, look for cracks, and areas where water may be pouring down the foundation.

All and any area drainage being used to convey storm water away from the home's foundation should be water tight. All drain basins should be water tight, Sizing should be based on a possible 4.75 inches of rainfall per-hour (that's the 100 year storm). Sub soil problems due to shotty work utilizing corrugated drain lines will just allow the water to leak underground. I choose not to use corrugated pipe for this reason.
